Sep. 13th - Saint-Tropez 🇫🇷

We left our barge & crew behind this morning and taxied 90 minutes to the Montpellier airport to pick up our rental then drive almost 4 hours to Saint-Tropez. It was a beautiful day for the scenic route through The Camargue, a nature preserve famous for the flocks of flamingos that call this area home and the many species of migratory birds who stop here on their annual treks to and from Africa & Northern Europe. This is also the place where sea salt from the Camargue is produced. Of course we stopped along the way to get a small supply of this “crystal gold” and to buy some farm fresh fruit and vegetables that we’ll need later this week at our villa rental. We made a side trip to Arles where Debb’s favourite linen store is located and where she was able to stock up on napkins and table runners. We took advantage of the stop to enjoy a light lunch on a hot day in the shade of some giant old plane trees at a quaint bistro just outside the ruins of the Roman Amphitheatre. Then, it was straight on to Saint-Tropez for happy hour, dinner and a walk along the harbour to see all the beautiful yachts that have come to visit from around the globe. This place really is for the rich and famous and we feel like voyeurs peering though a window into another world! The beautiful women dressed up in their finery with spike and stiletto heels on cobblestone streets in la Veille Ville is something to see. I can almost hear Robin Leach!

If you could have one of these yachts, which would you pick?

Quaint cobblestone streets in the Old Town are lined with restaurants, all of which will be full by 8 PM

This cool restaurant on the seaside promenade has sand floors!

We retraced our steps from July to the linen shop where Debb restocked!

The harbour is lined with beautiful yachts. The guy in the red shirt is the harbour master who helps the crews tie up. How to I get his job?
