May 24 - Jaipur, India 🇮🇳

Another wonderful day in the pink city. We were very fortunate to visit the private areas of the royal family inside the City Palace. Princess Diana was a guest of the royal family of Rajistan and dined here and we toured through the summer palace, the winter palace and other parts that are restricted for general visitors. You can only imagine how opulent and spectacular it must have been in the mid 1600s. Later we visited Amber fort, 11 Kms from Jaipur. Amber Fort is a marvelous example of Rajput architecture with its terraces and ramparts reflected in Maota Lake below. The interior of the fort has various royal halls decorated with intricate ivory, mirror, and glass work complemented by exquisite wall paintings. As we moved between the rooms of this magnificent structure we could feel the history & visualize the pomp and grandeur of a kingdom never conquered. Of course, no visit to India is complete without a snake charmer doing his thing!
