The drive from Mammoth to Klamath was spectacular. 5 hours crossing the Pass at Mount Shasta and crossing over Lake Shasta was amazing but so scary to see how low the water level is in the lake. Think houseboats stranded on the lakeshores and a lake level that‘s at least 30 feet below normal. The visual reference to Northern California’s drought is striking. Say nothing about the vast sections of land that have succumbed to forest fires. There are miles and miles of blacked, burned tree trunks and scorched earth. Holy smokes! We arrived in Klamath Falls to spitting rain and temperatures that were 20 degrees lower. We’re seven and a half hours by road from our Cle Elum home in Tumble Creek. Getting close!
