June 14 - Copenhagen, Denmark 🇩🇰

Updated: Jul 31, 2019

Today was a beautiful, sunny and warm day as we started to acquaint ourselves with Denmark’s capital, Copenhagen. From sunrise to sunset we were on the move first with the Hop-on, Hop-off bus then a canal cruise topped off with a picnic dinner. We were fortunate to see this city at its best. Clear blue skies, and a high temperasure of 72 degrees both of which are a rarity in this Northern European capital. As a result, today was a great day to play tourist. A highlight was a visit to Copenhagen’s famous Reflections Ice Bar, an eclectic sub-zer0 club with walls, furniture and counters carved from ice imported from a spot north of the Arctic Circle in Sweden and an ice gallery with sculptures inspired by the fairytales of Danish author Hans Cristian Anderson. Debb and I played it cool with a gin cocktail called “Snow Rabbit” served in an ice glass while donning a warm winter jacket trimmed with fur. It was magical! Later, we toured by the residence of the Queen of Denmark, the Amalienborg Palace and the beautiful Tivoli Gardens. A good day!

Reflections Ice Bar. Everything we touched was made of ice. Thankfully they gave us warm winter jackets trimmed in fur.

The swan is the national bird of Denmark. This one is being followed by her gosslings!

Well, we weren’t alone on this cruise! Seemingly, the city also came out to enjoy a rare sunny, hot day in June!
