June 12/13 - Across the pond to Denmark

Updated: Jun 14, 2019

From Seattle to Calgary to London to Copenhagen...it’s been a long 18 hours but we arrived safely after a fantastic B787-9 flight on one of WestJet’s newest birds. What a great aircraft and so wonderful to enjoy the interior furnishings and finishes which were 18 months in the making during my time at WestJet. The cabin crew, the catering, and the quiet comfort of the experience were fantastic. We’ve had the privilege of flying long haul on a lot of airlines and I have to say that WestJet’s product and delivery is among the best of the best. Well done to Sam, our Cabin Manager, and her crew for an outstanding job! From London we made a short 90 minute jump to Copenhagen on easyJet, which was anything but easy! I got charged the equivalent of $115 for a small, 20 pound carry on bag which was confiscated at the boarding gate because I was also carrying a small briefcase and easyJet only allows 1 piece of luggage free despite the fact that their website says one piece free plus one personal item (like a purse or laptop or briefcase)! Well, the main thing is we arrived safely in Denmark to beautiful sunny weather and glad to be on terra firma after more than 18 hours of travel. Let the big adventure begin!

A little pre-departure champagne from the comfort of WestJet’s new Business Class on their B787-9

I love the personalized welcome aboard screen on my seat back monitor. They even spelled Saretsky correctly!

How about some Chateauneuf de Pape and truffle oil popcorn to start? Yum!

A little galley chat after dinner to congratulate the crew on their delightful service. They rocked it!

From the ridiculously good WestJet flight to the sublime of easyJet...not one of their better flights but arrival in CPH was sunny and warm!

Good night Copenhagen. The end of day 1 from the sidewalk cafe of our first Danish cuisine!
