Today we did the wine route of the Cotes du Rhone with stops in Gigondas, Suzette, Malaucène and Rasteau. This is a prime wine region in Southern France second only to Chateauneuf du Pape which we’ll explore tomorrow. From the start in Orange we climb the Dentelles de Montmirail mounain peaks towards Mont Ventoux, the highest spot in Provence. This is where the Tour de France grinds it out and where, from the top, you have the most spectacular view of the region down to the sea. There is vineyard after vineyard here, small towns and great wine tasting. The weather is hot and dry and perfect for sampling some of the best rose wines that France produces. Oh la la.
