July 2 - Katowice, Poland 🇵🇱

Today was Groundhog Day! After a leisurely morning wandering around Wroclaw enjoying the old town, the cathedral and the university (not to mention the wonderful cinnamon pretzels and typical rose donuts), we drove 3 hours south to Katowice. On arrival we realized we had left our passports in the in-room safe in the prior city, 3 hours to the North! After several unsuccessful attempts with FedEx, UPS, and DHL to arrange a pick up in Wroclaw and delivery in Krakow (our next stop), we finally came to grips with the fact that we’d need to fetch them ourselves! Damn! So, back we went 3 hours North to pick the passports up ourselves, then drive 3 hours back to where we began! It was a lost day with 9 hours on clogged freeways. The only sight we got of Katowice was from the bar on the 27th floor of our hotel (see below). Not the best day adventuring but all’s we’ll that ends well. Tomorrow we’re heading to Auschwitz. It will no doubt be a somber day.
