Our last day on Paros so we pointed the car south and drove to Parasporos, 18 km to the southwest from our villa. Parasporos is located south of Parikia, the capital of Paros, next to a campsite, which is the reason why it is often very crowded. It is a large beach with emerald waters and golden sand. We snagged a couple of sun beds and settled in for the day, each of us with a new book. Iām reading a hand-me-down from Debb titled, āNine Elmsā by Robert Bryndza - a thriller. Itās another beautiful 30 degree day (90 Fahrenheit), with a light, cooling wind blowing off the water. This place is near perfection. We enjoyed lunch at the beach taverna: fresh grilled squid, traditional meatballs & tzatziki, green salad, pita bread & French fries, finishing up with a slice of Grandmaās homemade baklava, all washed down with a nice crisp local white wine. As we ponder the conclusion of our time on Paros, Iām reminded of a quote from Anthony Bourdain on making your life a fulfilling adventure. āTravel isnāt always pretty. It isnāt always comfortable. Sometimes it hurts, it even breaks your heart. But thatās OK. The journey changes you; it should change you. It leaves marks on your memory, on your consciousness, on your heart, and on your body. You take something with you. Hopefully, you leave something good behind.ā So long, Paros & thanks for a good time!
