July 12 - Paros, Greece 🇬🇷 & Faragas beach

Updated: Jul 14, 2021

With the meltemi gusting to 35 MPH this morning our mission was to find a protected bay to hide out from the winds. The meltemi are the strong, dry north winds of the Aegean Sea which blow from mid-May to mid-September. They are at their strongest in the afternoon so when it’s blowing in the morning you know you’re in for a doozy! Sometimes the meltemi winds last for days without a break, which appears to be the case for the next few days. Thankfully we found Faragas beach located on the southern side of the island, about 15 km south of the main port & largest town, Parikia. It’s a beautiful cove sheltered from the wind where we spent the day relaxing, reading, & sharing a bottle of rose before walking the town of Parikia & having dinner. Another wonderful day.
